1. Who we are
The SQWK Network ("SQWK", "we", "us" or "our") is the controller of personal information collected through this launch page.
privacy@sqwk.network
2. Information we collect
| Email address | Provided by you when you join the launch list. |
|---|---|
| Signup record | Date/time, signup source and the version of the consent/privacy wording in use when you joined. |
| Approximate country | Inferred from the internet address used when you submit the form. IP-based country detection is approximate and can be wrong, particularly when using VPNs, mobile networks, corporate gateways or privacy services. |
| IP-derived security value | Where configured, the full IP address is converted to a salted one-way hash. The waitlist database does not retain the raw IP address. |
| Server logs | Our web host may create ordinary security/access logs containing technical information such as IP address, browser information, requested URL and time of access. |
3. Why we use your information and our lawful bases
- Launch and early-access emails: we use your email because you have asked to receive these updates. Our lawful basis is consent. You may withdraw that consent at any time.
- Country-level audience insight: we use approximate country information to understand where interest in SQWK is coming from and to plan the launch. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in planning and improving the service.
- Security and abuse prevention: we may use a one-way IP hash and ordinary server logs to protect the signup form, investigate abuse and maintain service security. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure service.
We do not use the launch-page data for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Email communications
By joining the launch list you specifically request SQWK launch and early-access emails. We will not treat that request as permission for unrelated third-party advertising. You can withdraw consent by using an unsubscribe mechanism included in our emails, when available, or by contacting us using the privacy contact above.
5. Country lookup and service providers
For country detection, the launch page may send the signup IP address over HTTPS to IPWHOIS.io solely to obtain country-level geolocation. SQWK requests only the fields needed for this purpose and stores the returned country, not the raw IP, in the waitlist database. IPWHOIS.io operates its own service under its own privacy terms.
We may also use hosting, email delivery, database and security providers where necessary to operate SQWK. They may process personal information on our behalf under appropriate contractual and security arrangements.
6. International transfers
Some technology suppliers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we will use an applicable lawful transfer mechanism and appropriate protections.
7. How long we keep information
We keep launch-list information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the launch and early-access programme. We will review the waitlist at least annually and normally delete or anonymise it no later than 12 months after SQWK's public launch unless you become a user, ask us to remain in contact, or we need a minimal record to honour an unsubscribe or meet a legal obligation. Security logs are retained only for the period reasonably necessary for security and troubleshooting.
8. Cookies and local storage
This launch page uses a short-lived, strictly necessary session cookie to protect forms against cross-site request forgery and to maintain essential session state. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. We do not currently use non-essential advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies on the launch page.
9. Bitcoin and Lightning donations
If you choose to donate using Bitcoin or the Lightning Network, blockchain or payment-network information is handled by those networks and your wallet provider. Bitcoin transactions are public on the Bitcoin blockchain. SQWK does not intentionally link a donation to your waitlist email unless you separately provide information that enables us to do so.
10. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights including access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability and the right to withdraw consent. Some rights are subject to legal conditions and exemptions.
To exercise a right, contact us using the privacy contact above. We may need enough information to verify your request.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we use your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Information about making a complaint is available at ico.org.uk.
12. Changes to this notice
We may update this privacy notice as SQWK develops. If we intend to use existing personal information for a materially new purpose, we will provide appropriate privacy information before doing so.
